Lander-Grinspoon Academy Joins Northampton Mayor in Saying: Anti-Semitism Must Stop

Posted on January 11, 2022

Lander-Grinspoon Academy (LGA) the Jewish Day School of the Upper Pioneer Valley, is heartened by Mayor Sciarra’s unequivocal rejection of recent acts of antisemitism, anti-Asian hate and other forms of racism. Her call to honor the dignity and safety of all residents fosters greater kindness and connection, leading to a more dynamic community where all residents can thrive.

In response to the mayor’s remarks, LGA’s Executive Director Rabbi Debra Kolodny said, “We are fully committed to partnering with Mayor Sciarra in this work. We know that the antidote to
antisemitism is building Jewish confidence and resilience. It is growing Jewish engagement in the larger community. It is supporting others in their time of need.

Whether one is targeted by hate based on race, religion, national origin, ability, sexual orientation, gender identity or any other identity, together we must say no. With compassion, fairness and
justice as guiding principles, we can work in solidarity to become beacons for the world we wish to create.

By educating young people with a curriculum that is not only about rigorous academics, but also about celebrating difference, caring, service, equity and inclusion, LGA joins with Mayor Sciarra.”

LGA’s Board Chair Lisa Newman adds, “LGA and all institutions who share these aspirations are strengthened to have a partner in Mayor Sciarra. We thank her.”
