Danielle Himi Barbibay

Kitot Bet, Gimel, Dalet, Hay and Vav/Grades 2-6 Hebrew Teacher

Years as a teacher: 3

Years at LGA: First

Why did you become a teacher?

I have a niece with CP syndrome and when she was born I looked at my sister being so overwhelmed by everything and noticed that the people who had the best affection toward her were the teachers. Therefore I thought I wanted to help others by being an educator.

What drew you to teach at LGA?

I believe it was the unique Jewish experience that the school offers. As an Israeli Jewish woman I loved the fact that school emphasizes the great values of Judaism, being kind and good to others — which are the most important things for me to pay forward.

What is your favorite topic/subject to teach and why?

I like teaching literature and using songs and stories as part of my curriculum. I believe that is the best way to teach and enrich my students.

What benefits do you see from our dual curriculum?

I believe that learning a second language gives you opportunities to be more creative, open minded and become a cultural explorer who can get to more places and meet more interesting people.
